I'm linking up with
Crazy Casa K and her Happy Monday hop this week.
She has the happiness broken down into themes. This week's theme is
"Hobby Love"
I truthfully have way too many hobbies that I would love to do if I had the time.
I love sewing, cooking, reading. None of them stand out as an all-time favorite.
I love to read because I've always been an avid reader beginning when I was old enough to start sounding out words. I love being taken away to another place. Unfortunately, since I began blogging two years ago, I've probably only finished two books. TWO BOOKS! It was one of my goals this year to read one book a month. I'm already behind!
I love to cook because if I'm not rushed to get dinner on the table, it can be a cathartic and creative process.
I love to sew because I like being able to create things exactly the way I want them. Sewing is another thing that I'd like to make more time for this year. I would like to be able to finish one sewing project a month. I finished one project yesterday. You'll have to stop by my HBHL blog to check it out once I get it published! I'll leave a link when it's done. I think the little ruffled purse I made for Jaycee turned out quite cute! Oh what the heck~~~~here's a sneak preview! I have a sponsor who sends me a different little craft kit each month and last month they sent me 10 squares of 10" x 10" calico. We have a couple pieces left over that we might make a quilt for one of Jaycee's baby dolls with.
Other things (off topic) that are making me happy this week:
What is making me happy this week? I'm happy that I've gotten some things accomplished in the last week! Although I'm behind on my "40 bags in 40 days" challenge, I got two bags to donate so far. That's two bags less of clutter. Less clutter = simpler life = happiness.
I'm happy that we had off school today and that my kids are still sleeping. Yes. They. Are.
I'm happy that I've given my kids purpose by starting a chore chart last week. They haven't complained too much at all about it. Although they say that they don't like chores, I think they're happy to be part of the family and have a purpose. Plus, it makes mommy less stressed out.
A less stressed out mommy = a happy mommy.
Even though I have to help them on every step and I'm still technically doing as much work, I feel happier. I don't feel like I'm "alone on an island" and being taken for granted anymore.
I'm happy that I have kids who are so different and unique. And although it can be crazy and stressful at times to have a child who is "always bored", I'm glad that she wants to stay active and busy. I'm happy that yesterday I got a chance to play in the snow with her. AND, she helped me sew the purse above. And we made homemade hand soap last night. Busy, busy, busy.
Back to the snow~~we were coloring snow with Kool-aid. But, we didn't stay out long since it was 21 degrees (feels like 4)

ReplyDeleteAhhhhh....totally love the kool aid in the snow idea. What a great and fun thing to do. I seen it and immediately thought of how awesome you could create a snowman. Awesome. = )
